We Support The City
From low-level improvements to big initiatives that really deliver change, we've always valued our part in supporting Sheffield to strive to meet its ambition.
From low-level improvements to big initiatives that really deliver change, we've always valued our part in supporting Sheffield to strive to meet its ambition.
We're here for the people of Sheffield to support employability, help the environment and local communities.
We're proud to be the first leisure operator in the UK to introduce a sugar levy; supporting Sheffielders, particularly children, to make healthier choices. Through this we have created the Sheffield City Trust Health Fund and have donated over £35k to nutritional and activity educational programmes for children to encourage healthier behaviours from an earliy age.
Supporting Employability
We're proud to be able to support employability in Sheffield and work with a number of local organisations like Burton Street, Street League and Sheffield Hallam University.
We support Burton Street Foundation with their E100 scheme to provide work opportunities for people with learning difficulties.
Our world Class Facilities offer a real incentive to the young people that Street League works with. Over 100 young people have completed the programme so far. With 81% of participants coming from the top 40% of the most deprived areas this innovative programme puts young people on the path to employment with 55% of young people sustaining employment over a longer period.
As a partner of Sheffield Hallam University, we provide work placement opportunities to around 50 students annually from a range of business and sport courses.
Helping Our Environment
Our continued Green Initiatives have delivered a 3-year, 15% energy efficiency improvement, with a 2030 energy target commitment on-track to be achieved 10 years early. We have been awarded the coveted ISO50001 Energy Management accreditation; and are the 1st Leisure Trust to achieve 'Carbon Standard'.
Timebuilders encourages volunteers to support their local community through grass-roots projects. As well as the achievements and community goodwill, volunteers earn 'time credits'. Sheffield City Trust is proud to support this initiative, converting these 'time credits' into activities in our venues.
Supporting Our Communities
Colleagues from across Sheffield City Trust regularly support Give and Gain Day. This year, we supported local school, Mansell Primary, to improve their outdoor areas: cleaning, pruning and cutting their field, marking a pitch and providing football nets to host their very own tournament.
Colleagues also offer their time to support children below the national average or where English is not their first language, to develop their reading. These weekly sessions provide valuable additional resource for our city's schools, with over 300 hours per academic year given by our staff.
