We Bring Communities Together
Improving Health And Wellbeing In Local Communities
Health & Wellbeing is not just about hitting the gym, that’s why we’re so much more than just our venues.
From Winn Gardens to Shiregreen and Darnall, Sheffield City Trust runs activities across the city outside of our venues; in local community centres, schools and care homes.
Since 2009, we've secured over £5 million in grants to support Sheffield and over the last 3 years, we've secured over £1/2 million in funding for 54 local groups and organisations.
We currently deliver programmes to 150 residents across the city's care home helping to reduce falls and accidents and improve quality of life.
Here are just a few initiatives that we're proud to be a part of.
Steel City Fit Club
Using the power of SUFC and SWFC, over 130 of the city’s most inactive people have been getting fitter through a structured programme of fitness and education at their beloved football stadium.
The whole group felt healthier and more confident, with 85% of participants losing weight and reducing their blood pressure after just 12 weeks!
Care Home Residents
Sheffield City Trust are working in partnership with Sheffcare, Sheffield Health & Social Care and Sheffield Hallam University to improve the quality of life and reduce falls in 12 care homes across Sheffield. Supporting over 150 people so far, our programme of physical activity sessions are delivered by our team right in the care homes themselves.
The sessions get staff & family involved and having a great time, as well as improving mobility and balance to reduce accidents and improve resident’s overall quality of life.
