About Us
Sheffield City Trust, formerly known as Sheffield International Venues, is a health and wellbeing charity formed over 30 years ago and was the first leisure trust of its kind in the UK.
Managing over 13 fitness and leisure venues across the city, five golf clubs and two entertainment venues, the trust works with Sheffield City Council to deliver affordable, high-quality sports facilities for thousands of people in Sheffield and the surrounding areas.
Through its offerings Sheffield City Trust is passionate about changing lives and works with local communities engaging them to become more active, build self-confidence and support physical and emotional wellbeing.
About iceSheffield
iceSheffield opened in 2003 and is a Centre of Excellence for figure skating, ice dance and hockey, and it is one of only two facilities in the UK that has two Olympic sized ice pads. Its overall philosophy of use/focus is for the inclusion and activities for all ice sports from community and grass root usage to elite performance.
About Ponds Forge
Ponds Forge International Sports Centre was opened in 1991, by HRH Princess Royal, as part of Sheffield’s bid to transform the city into a centre of excellence for leisure conferencing and tourism. It is recognised as a world class sporting events venue and as a reputable health and fitness centre for the community of Sheffield.
About EIS Sheffield
The English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EISS) was officially opened in December 2003 and is managed and operated by Sheffield City Trust for UK Sport. EISS is an elite training centre which is one of only ten in the country. The venue is home to representatives of 14 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and its overall goal is achieving excellence at Olympics' and major sports championships ensuring athletes and National Governing Bodies meet their full potential.
About Hillsborough Leisure Centre
Hillsborough Leisure Centre opened in 1991 as it was one of the four venues built for the World Student Games along with Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield Arena and Don Valley Stadium. Hillsborough Leisure Centre is home to the largest coached activity programme across Sheffield City Trust with over 2,000 attendances each week across swimming lessons, gymnastics, trampoline, and football.
