Ponds Forge to host British Champs!

Ponds Forge International Sports Centre is proud to be the chosen venue for the British Swimming Championships six-day meet which also plays key a role in the qualification process for May's World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

The flagship domestic event is happening from 5th-10th April 2022 at Ponds Forge, Sheffield which is run by Sheffield City Trust.

Andrew Snelling, our Chief Executive said: “We are delighted that the British Swimming Championships are returning to Ponds Forge and look forward to welcoming the athletes, staff and spectators to this exciting event on the aquatics calendar, a key competition ahead of three major international meets in 2022 for Britain's swimmers.”

Ponds Forge has a 50m Olympic-sized competition pool which will be used for the event, which will also play a part in team selections for the remaining senior and junior international meets in 2022.

"Returning the British Swimming Championships to Ponds Forge is always a great moment as the venue holds so many happy racing memories for many of our athletes of all ages. We know how valuable a boost this major event can give to the aquatics community, and it is with thanks to our partners that we are able to provide that boost."

Ponds Forge welcomes over 850,000 visitors to Sheffield each year, with its comprehensive event programme generating over £10m per year to the local economy.  2022 looks set to be another exciting year for the venue, with events currently planned on 50 out of 52 weekends in the year.
