Springs Pool Closure FAQs

Q, When will the swimming pool at Springs Leisure Centre close?
A. The maintenance at Springs requires closure of the pool for a further period of time than originally predicted.  Swimming lessons will restart at Springs once the works have been completed.  Unfortunately, we don't have a confirmed time-frame for this, yet.  

Q Is it just the swimming pool that will be closed?
A. The maintenance work only requires the pool hall to be closed.  Customers can still enjoy access to the gym, fitness classes and sports hall.

Q. Where can I swim whilst the pool at Springs Leisure Centre is closed?
A. Swimming is available at Concord Sports Centre, Heeley Swimming Pool, Hillsborough Leisure Centre and Ponds Forge. All our venues offer a variety of sessions including lane swimming, just swim, ladies only and splash sessions.

Q. I have booked and paid for a swimming sessoin. What will happen to my booking?
A. Your session will automatically be cancelled and refunded. Please allow up to 10 working days for this to appear by in your account.

Q. What maintenance work is being completed?
A. The maintenance work is the management of asbestos in non-customer area

Q. Do I need to worry about asbestos exposure?
A. No, there is no risk to our customers.  The maintenance work is being carried out in an area not open to the public. Asbestos does not pose a health risk if it is managed.  The venue is regularly inspected, and our asbestos management plan is frequently reviewed by external specialists.

Q. Where can I attend Aqua classes whilst the pool at Springs Leisure Centre is closed?
A. Aqua classes are available at Concord Sports Centre, Heeley Pool, Hillsborough Leisure Centre and Ponds Forge. You can view the timetable at https://www.sheffieldcitytrust.org/venues

Q. What will happen to my/my child's swimming lessons?
A. We have some swimming lesson spaces available at both Heeley and Ponds Forge pools.  Any customers wanting to relocate to other venues will be given priority to rejoin at Springs once the pool reopens.

Q. How do i relocate my/my child's swimming lessons?

Additional swimming lessons have been added to the timetables at Ponds Forge and Heeley Pool and Gym during this period of closure and we also have some limited availability at some of our other venues If you wish to transfer your/your child's lessons to another venue then you will need to complete our online form.
How to select you/your child's new lesson:

  • View our lesson timetable online by clicking the Select New Lesson link below
  • Select up to 3 lessons that you/your child would be able to attend
  • Complete the rest of our online form (one per swimming lesson customer)

Our team will work through all submitted forms allocating places based on your preferences. All swimming lesson places are subject to availability and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis

Should the lessons that you have chosen become unavailable you will receive a phone call to discuss your options.

Lesson relocation can only be requested through submitting an online form. We are unable to deal with movement requests over the phone or in venue.

Should you experience issues completing the form then please contact us on 0114 223 3410 and a member of our team will be able to assist. If you wish to relocate please ensure you complete our form by 9.00am Thursday 26th September 2024. We apologise for the short notice.

Your Next Direct Debit Payment - No direct debit will be taken from your on the 1st October 2024 to cover our closure during September. Your next direct debit will be 1st November 2024 To relocate click here.

Q. The relocation times aren't suitable for me. How do i cancel my/my child's swimming lessons?

We understand that transferring to another venue won't be an option for everyone, or that our temporary swimming lesson timetables may not offer a class that suits your availability. 

If we do not hear from you by 9.00am Thursday 26th September 2024 we will presume you would like to cancel your lessons with us. Once we have a confirmed date to reopon we will contact you and you will have priority to rebook your lessons with us.   

Refund of payment - Your payment for any lessons that you have made during the closure in September will automatically be refunded into you account. You do not need to contact us to request the refund. Please do not cancel your direct debit at the bank until your refund has been made.
